Hi, I’m Micaela.
About me professionally: I’m a licensed massage therapist, previously licensed in Texas and Oklahoma, now Hopkins, MN, and am able to practice in other jurisdictions, as well. I graduated from Parker University in Dallas, TX with an AAS in Massage Therapy, pursued a BS in Anatomy, but am now at St. Kate’s working toward a BSN with a graduation date in 2028. I have continuing education and experience working on prenatal, postnatal and pediatric clientele, performing hot stone, cupping, kinesiotaping, craniosacral therapy as well as traditional Swedish massage. I have experience working with: physically disabled adults and children, intellectually delayed/disabled adults and children, Chiari malformation type 1 and 2 in adults and children, breast cancer, cancer survivors, rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune conditions, Down syndrome in adults, neurodivergence in children and adults, athletes, veterans, pregnant/postnatal adults, infants with colic, infants with “flat spots”, people of all gender expressions, sizes, identities and walks of life.
My goals as a therapist: I always wanted a space where people felt comfortable. Not just “oh, this is nice”, but dropped shoulders, unclenched jaw, comfortable. So many people feel they can’t get massages for one reason or another; their weight, acne, gender expression, whether they can find a sitter (or not) leaves so many folks feeling unwelcome and unable to receive healing, compassionate touch. Not with me, and not here. BirthED is exceptionally inclusive in and of itself, and I also offer outcalls so you can stay within the coziness of your own space if my work schedule doesn’t necessarily align with yours. I want you to know: if you have muscles, you deserve healing touch with compassionate care. YOU deserve healing touch in a comforting environment with a respectful provider.
About me personally: I was once a professional baker! I ran my own cottage bakery in Texas, and I’d drive an hour and a half to Dallas each week to sell my desserts and breads and whatever else I’d thought up (my favorite was a blueberry earl grey loaf with rosemary frosting). I enjoy diving into podcasts, rom-coms, discussing the absurdity of children’s television, and coffee. I am finding that Minnesotans are super outdoorsy, so I’ve been trying to find my “thing” and I’ve really taken to cycling. I have a cat named Roush, 4 children, and am obsessed with Cajun and Tex-Mex food. You can always catch me outside at parks around the metroplex, Cream + Amber in Hopkins or catching up on reading on my days off.
